Some Aspects of the Bayesian Approach to Statistical Modelling in Animal BreedingAbstract: This paper summarizes some basic principles and concepts of Bayesian analysis in animal breeding applications. The mathematical formula of Bayes' theorem is given and an application of the theory to genetics is also presented. The choice of a prior distribution for variance components is considered in detail.
